I Dedicate this page to Ben Douglas 17 of Australia who was taken by cancer at the age of 17. Ben was a very loving and caring young man who was loved by all that he touched. Ben could be frequently found on the Cancer Survivor Site. He had friends all over the world. Ben knew he was dying, but he didn't let any of his Internet friends know. He let us all believe that his best friend was dying instead of him. Ben died peacefully, in his sleep and in his own bed, at 5:20am on Wednesday June 30th, 1999. Ben has left memories of one of the nicest people one could hope to meet, and a teenager of unique and understanding quality. Ben was a wonderful young gentleman and a dear friend always, to everyone he ever met. He made many wonderful friends on IRC the Cancer Survivor Site and on ICQ. Ben has left behind his Mom, his young brother Jimmie, and his best friend Davie.
Ben wrote a poem just before he was taken by God. The poem is below for you to read. I Can Sleep
The sun sets slowly and daylight fades away. The glow of the western rim marks the end of a tiring day.
A shadow falls gently and cools the night air. Night sounds ebb and fade till I forget they are there.
Breezes blow softly and I see now the time. The night sings a lullaby and chills run down my spine.
I grin so faintly and I smile a bit too. I think with love about the fun we had, me and you.
My head rests lightly and finds peace so deep. The pillow caresses my face and I know at last
I can sleep.

Another poem that young Ben wrote.
TIME
Time.... What is it?....
Something we all have... but....
How much have we got? Does it really matter?
Some have more.... Others have less....
Use it wisley.... Spend it well....
Use it all up.... We all have enough....

A Poem Chosen For Ben. This is the way Ben was.
Do Not Weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep; I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you waken in the morning's hush. I am the swift uplifting rush. Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die.
I need not say more about Ben Douglas. His poetry says it all.

Children are children, Teenagers are teenagers, but Children and Teenagers are people too, who have the same feelings as Adults, but need more understanding with the loss of a loved one. Either a parent, sister, brother, friend or a pet. Most often they need more help and guidance than Adults.
